Studio: Venturing into Electronic Music

The Studio is a two-week residential summer music camp for students age 14-20 who want to take their music compositions to the next level. Limited to 20 students.

Core features: low student-to-teacher ratio; seminars and master classes with a guest composer; a professional reading of selected student choral works by a guest ensemble; score analysis; field trips; and all of the features of the Institute. The program also offers a half-dozen composition tutorials and music theory and ear-training instruction. Every student has the opportunity to work with advanced music notation software. Students are expected to compose at least one work during the Studio and to participate in at least one premiere during the final Salons. The Studio is limited to the first 20 students who register.

2017 Junior Composers: Words+Music

Call for Scores

In preparation for our 2017 summer programs, we are formally inviting our students to compose a piece for SATB choir. These pieces should be 2-4 minutes in length and should be submitted electronically to Seth Custer (, no later than May 30, 2017. We are excited to announce that conductor Philip Brunelle and VocalEssence will be our special guest artists. Selected choral works will be read by members of VocalEssence at the 2017 Junior Composers Summer Programs.   Click here for more details.
